The German hockey men are in the semifinals of the World Indoor Championships in Berlin. The world ranking first defeated Switzerland in the quarterfinals 3-0 (2-0).
The Cologne Marco Miltkau (8th minute) had brought the hosts early in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in the lead before local hero Martin Häner (17) increased to 2: 0. The 3: 0 marked top scorer Christopher Rühr (30th) per penalty corner. For Cologne it was the 15th tournament goal. In the semifinals the following day, Germany will face Iran, who had prevailed 2-1 in the penalty shootout against the Czech Republic.
