German beach volleyball players Isabel Schneider and Victoria Bieneck narrowly missed the podium in the first Major Series tournament of the year in Fort Lauderdale.
In the small final of the World Tour tournament, the duo from Berlin and Leverkusen defeated the pairing Brooke Sweat / Summer Ross (USA) 0: 2, but can console themselves with 16,000 dollar prize money and 840 world ranking points.
“Nine games, six wins, important experiences and a lot of emotions – that’s the result of five intense days,” wrote the duo, who had been fighting for the main draw in the qualification, on Instagram.
Karla Borger / Margareta Kozuch finished the tournament in fifth place. The duo from Stuttgart failed in the quarterfinals to Taiana Lima / Carolina Horta from Brazil with 1: 2. Overall, the German Volleyball Federation DVV was represented in the US with eight duos. The four men’s teams all failed already in the qualification.
Sandra Ittlinger / Kim Behrens made it to the Round of 16, for Chantal Laboureur / Julia Sude was in the first knockout round end.
